Hearing Loss
Hearing Loss is the difference between the level of sound that can just be heard by an individual with impaired hearing and a standard level that has been determined by averaging measurements from a group of young hearing people. It is usually expressed in decibels. Three main types of hearing loss are
1. Conductive: A loss originating in the conductive mechanism of the ear;
2. Sensorineural: A loss originating in the cochlea or the fibers of the auditory nerve;
3. Noise induced: A sensorineural loss attributed to the effects of noise.
